Diabetes (Type 2)

Type 2 diabetes affects more than 29 million people in the US. 1 in 4 people with diabetes don’t know they have the disease. In diabetes, the body doesn’t make enough insulin or has difficulties to use it, or both things at the same time. Diabetes can lead to other diseases and can affect the blood vessels, brain, eyes, kidneys, legs/feet and nerves. If you have type 2 diabetes and have trouble controlling blood sugar, it may be time to try something different.

High Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a type of fat found in the blood. When you eat, your body converts any calories it doesn’t use into triglycerides. Normal blood levels of triglycerides are less than 150 mg/dl. High levels of triglycerides are associated with heart disease, pancreatic inflammation, diabetes and fatty liver disease. Making healthy lifestyle choices such as weight loss, avoid sugary or refined foods, limit alcohol intake and exercise regularly can help lower triglycerides.

Osteoarthritis of Knee

Osteoarthritis (OA) commonly affects the knees, causing joint pain, stiffness and gradually worsens with time. Because osteoarthritis may interfere with a person’s daily activities, taking steps to actively manage your osteoarthritis could help you gain control over your symptoms and remain active. Knee osteoarthritis is a leading cause of disability and can dramatically impact a person’s everyday life. OA can cause normal movements such as walking, bending and climbing steps to become painful and may seriously limit a person’s ability to function.

Migraines

Migraines are characterized by throbbing head pain, usually located on one side of the head, often accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and/or sound. Migraine headaches affect 13% of the US population. 70% of migraine sufferers are women. Many things may trigger a migraine. Triggers are not the same for everyone and what causes a migraine in one person may relieve it in another. Triggers may include one or more of the following categories: diet, activity, environment, emotions, medications and hormones.

Weight Loss

Obesity is a growing epidemic in the United States. Nearly 93 million Americans are affected by obesity, and that number is predicted to climb to 120 million within the next five years. Medical research suggests that losing just five percent of your body weight can significantly improve your health and reduce the risk of complications from diabetes and heart disease. Having too much body fat may lead to an adverse effect on your health, a shorter life expectancy and/or increased health problems. Obesity-related conditions include type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and certain types of cancer, which are some of the leading causes of death.

Low Testosterone

Testosterone is a sex hormone that controls more than just libido. In men, it affects physical appearance, mood, bone density, muscle mass and more. How much of this critical hormone the body produces is determined by signals from the brain that are delivered to the testicles by the pituitary gland. It’s estimated that several million men in the United States have low testosterone. Thanks to a growing body of research, treatments are now available to help men treat the symptoms of low testosterone, which include decreased sex drive, low energy and fatigue.
