Privacy Policy

Encompass Clinical Research (“Encompass”) is committed to protecting and preserving the privacy of its clinical study participants and those contemplating participating in a clinical study. Consequently, we have developed this Privacy Policy to explain the types of personally identifiable information collected by Encompass through its web site (the “Site”) and the ways Encompass may use such information. As a condition to your use of Encompass’s Site, you agree to be bound by the following Privacy Policy. Unless defined in this Privacy Policy, capitalized terms shall have the meanings set forth in Encompass’s Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms of Use”).

INFORMATION COLLECTED

The information gathered by Encompass falls into two categories: (1) information voluntarily supplied by visitors to our Site and (2) tracking information gathered as visitors navigate through our site. When a user of Encompass’s Site voluntarily registers with Encompass, Encompass receives the user’s name, contact information, demographic information and other information regarding the user. This information enables us to provide services for our users, to improve our website programming and to evaluate the ways in which our users utilize our services.

TRACKING USE OF SERVICES

Like many companies, Encompass uses data files called “cookies” to determine how our users interact with our site and to see how frequently our users return to a particular location within our site. Cookies also allow us to identify the sites from which our users access Encompass so we can place more on-line advertising at these sites.

Advertisers on Encompass’s websites may also utilize cookies in their ads to track the performance of on-line advertisements. Encompass may not have access to this information.

If you do not want to accept cookies from Encompass or other sites, your browser software should allow you to reject cookies. To reject cookies, access the Internet Options (Microsoft Internet Explorer) or Preferences (Netscape) sections of your browser software. If your browser software does not allow you to reject cookies, a number of software products known as “cookie crunchers” are available for sale on the Internet or at your local computer store. Some cookie cruncher software may be downloaded free of charge from various websites.

REQUIRED VS. OPTIONAL INFORMATION

Although Encompass requires its users to provide certain information in the registration process, additional information requested from users is optional and need not be provided to Encompass. Encompass’s requests for information from users will be identified as “required” or “optional,” as applicable (typically by a * designation).

DISTRIBUTION OF PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

Encompass makes this promise to each user of its Site:

ENCOMPASS WILL NOT SELL, EXCHANGE OR RELEASE THE PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION OF ANY USER OF ITS SITE TO ANY THIRD PARTY WITHOUT THE USER’S PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT.

Encompass, however, may provide aggregate information to third parties regarding the users of our services. This information shall not include personally identifiable information.

OPT-OUT OPTION

From time to time, Encompass sends e-mail notices to its registered users spotlighting certain services offered by Encompass. All users will be provided an opportunity to opt-out and to not receive such notices.

SECURITY OF USER INFORMATION

Encompass stores all personally identifiable information regarding its users in secure databases protected by a number of access controls. Encompass will access this information only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and Encompass’s Terms of Use.

PRIVACY POLICIES OF ENCOMPASS’S ADVERTISERS

The individuals and entities who advertise through and on Encompass’s Site are not subject to this Privacy Policy. Consequently, if you access the web site of one of our advertisers or provide your personally identifiable information to them, such access and information will be governed solely by the privacy policy, if any, of the individual advertiser.
